“I don’t even know where to begin. First of all, the vet that we were seeing in Mesquite was not as attentive, nor friendly enough to ask questions about our pet. We care and love our Westie as most owners do. We only want the best care for her.

Rockwall Veterinary Hospital says creating a butterfly garden is nowhere near as difficult as people think. There are certain plants that butterflies of all varieties are attracted to, so planting these in your garden will bring these wonderful creatures into your yard. One thing you must make sure of, however, that no cats can get in as they are notorious butterfly slayers.

Location and size is all important when you are in the initial planning stages of your butterfly garden. This makes sure that the plants that need full sun will get it; and those that don’t, won’t.

Once the planning is complete its time for the fun part; ordering and planting the flowers. The online search engines will bring great results if you simply search for ‘plants for butterfly gardens’. Alternatively, a book from a library will give you all the information you need.

Even though your primary aim is to attract as many butterflies as possible, you will still want your garden to be a vibrant rainbow of colors, so choose your plants wisely.

As butterflies go for flowers that contain nectar instead of pollen; here a few plant varieties to take note of. Lilac, Milkweed, Honeysuckle, Day lilies and Daisies are favorites of our fluttery friends so including these will maximize your chances of attracting them.

If you don’t already have one, get yourself a birdbath with a stand as butterflies need a supply of water at hand.

Butterflies love bananas and other fruits, so if there are any softening in your fruit bowl put them in your garden.

The last thing that you will need to purchase to ensure the success of your garden is a butterfly house. They will use this to rest in instead of leaving your garden to do so. Get one that is in keeping with the size of your garden.
