“I don’t even know where to begin. First of all, the vet that we were seeing in Mesquite was not as attentive, nor friendly enough to ask questions about our pet. We care and love our Westie as most owners do. We only want the best care for her.

Rockwall Vet Clinic says everyone wants their pet to eat the healthiest food available. Good pet nutrition is synonymous with a happy animal. We have to look much further than the picture on the package to determine a pet food’s worth. No one diet works for all animals, they all require something different.

Every pet owner should see to it that they take their pet to the veterinarian for regular evaluations. Veterinarians are experts when it comes to choosing your pets proper diet. They have been trained in ways to determine the best diet for your pets individual needs. All good veterinarians will give you an idea of what ingredients and brands would be beneficial for your pet, but you still will have to do a little research of your own.

First you have to consider budget. You need to determine the max amount that you are willing to spend on your pets food. It is true that higher quality food is going to cost more, so this is not an area where you want to skimp if you can afford not too.

Once you have determined your price range you want to look at at the ingredients. Any pet food that lists any kind of filler or meat by-product in the first three ingredients is probably going to be pretty low quality. Go for foods that list only types of meat as the first three ingredients.

Steer as far away from chemicals and preservatives as you can. If there are more ingredients you’ve never heard of than ingredients you recognize, don’t feed it to your pets. There should not be a lot of unnatural chemicals in an animals food, they are not meant to eat these kind of products.

The best thing you can do for your pet is to go organic. Organic pet food is certified all natural so it is always your healthiest option. Your pet will never ingest anything he wouldn’t find in nature. Regardless of what other brands say, organic food will always be the most beneficial for your pet.

There is a lot of trial and error that goes into finding the healthiest pet food. Between you and your veterinarian you should be able to eventually determine the healthiest diet for your pet. It is important to have your pet evaluated a few months after they begin eating a new food. You can track your pets progress since their last evaluation, and determine if the pet food you picked is truly their healthiest option.
